Connells Group pledges support to the armed forces community

Connells Group, the UK's largest property services provider, has announced its commitment to supporting the armed forces community by signing up to the Armed Forces Covenant.

The signing ceremony took place at the company’s headquarters in Milton Keynes on January 28th, and was attended by Phil Marks, MOD Defence Relationship Manager, and Lieutenant Colonel Thao Nguyen. Representing Connells Group was Chief Financial Officer Richard Twigg, alongside several veteran colleagues.

By committing to the Armed Forces Covenant, Connells Group acknowledges the valuable skills and experiences that individuals who serve, or have served, in the armed forces can bring to the workplace.

Richard Twigg, Chief Financial Officer at Connells Group, commented: “We’re delighted to support this important initiative and demonstrate our commitment to equal opportunities for all, and to give back to those who have served or are serving the country. We understand the sacrifices many of them have made, and we’re fortunate to already have several veterans and reservists in our workforce where we’ve seen firsthand the value their skills and experience bring to our business.”

Richard adds, “With the signing of the covenant, we’re proud to become Bronze members, and we look forward to working towards achieving the Silver award to further strengthen our commitment to the armed forces community.”

Phil Marks, National Account Manager for Defence Relationship Management at the Ministry of Defence, says, “Armed Forces personnel have skills and work ethic that are of huge value to employers and, whether a Veteran, Reservist or a Cadet instructor, those valuable skills can be directly transferred into civilian life and can be of great benefit to businesses. Organisations of all sizes can sign the covenant and we’d like to thank Connells Group for their pledge to support those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces.”

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
